| This new 3-story house was sited to protect the large elm and oak trees spread across the lot. The compactly proportioned floor plan was divided by a narrow glass slot along its central circulation spine that allows natural light into the space. Green building materials used in the construction of the house included high performance spray foam insulation, cementitious siding, recycled stone from the pre-existing house, and a rain water collection system. This project won a 2006 Merit Award from AIA Austin. |
